After a fun filled event in 2012 with over 100 competitors, it’s time to get started on organising For The Birds for 2013.
We’ve listed to the feedback, we’ll try to incorporate as much as possible, though the bike give away will always be the last thing we do to keep you all there to encourage the final riders across the line.
The course lengths will change for this year with the introduction of more trails at Sparrow, we will keep the short version for the juniors, we’ll stagger the starts and we’ll have a fancy dress category since we had some very colourful ladies last year – if this is you, contact Kris and we’ll organise a free entry for this years race.
What will be the same?
A girls-only race, where nail polish (to hide any dirt under the nails), perfect helmet hair, glitter, mascara and colour coordination are encouraged, where we won’t be bothered by over-zealous boy racers calling TRACK on us.
The boys will be off the track, helping us out for a change. Well, hey - they are good at tyre changes …
For the Birds! is the perfect race for any girl looking for a competitive challenge in a friendly environment.
The event offers four options, catering for those just starting out in racing, through to a rewarding course for the Elites.
The loop based format means you are never too far from transition, and we will have lots of marshals on course in case you run into any mechanical (or other) difficulties.
We will also be setting up the start so that those completing in the half and single loops can leave after the faster field – meaning you
will likely get an uninterrupted run on the course, without having to worry about faster riders coming up behind you.
This race is all about you having fun and finishing with a smile on your face. That smile could be because you have put down a fastest lap, or because you have just ridden the distance on a great track with your friends.
